Lime Color Palettes

Lime palettes are built on the brightest edge of green, and they tend to read as energy before they read as nature. In a palette, lime works as a signal: it is what the eye lands on first, even when it occupies the smallest area, which makes it useful as an accent and difficult as a base.

The sets below pair it with dark anchors and cool neutrals so its brightness has somewhere to push against. Ordered by Visual Intelligence Index score and then by saves, each shows its six colors in role order and opens onto a page with measured contrast and code, so the accent can be placed with its actual luminance in mind.

The palettes here treat lime as the brightest point in the set, which means everything else has to be quieter than it. A lime accent against a near-black anchor reads as sport; against a deep green support it reads as botanical. Where lime is asked to carry a large area, the palette becomes hard to use, and the sets that avoid that are the ones worth opening.

Frequently Asked Questions

What grounds a lime palette?
A near-black or a deep forest green, which absorbs the brightness and gives the set a floor.
Is lime suitable for large areas?
Rarely; it tires the eye quickly and is better used on one element than across a surface.
What is the difference between lime and chartreuse?
Chartreuse leans yellow; lime leans green and is slightly cleaner.
